Forum status

Hey there everybody, just thought I'd stick up a quick thread about the state of the forums; as those of you who use this will have noticed, we have been having a spambot propblem recently. Thankfully, I eventualy pulled my finger out, and added another security question to stop spambots getting on the site. All bots and spammers have also been permanently banned, and their accounts removed. Any new accounts will be monitored by the administration, and checked against lists of known spammers - last thing we need is a million bots trying to sell us all *SPAM* <_<

The email system still remains broken, and unfortunately it looks like it may stay that way for a fair while. Due to how tolstoy connects to the internet, and what the university lets through, hosting a mail server on tolstoy is going to be tricky. The society may end up using a third-party mail server out in the wild somewhere, but this is still a maybe. So, you'll have to check the forums the old fashioned way!

You should also have noticed that the sections have been shuffled a bit - they're still in need of content, so get posting! The new layout should allow new users to quickly see what's what, as well as keeping things where they're meant to be, and not in odd places.

That's more or less it; I'm still fiddling with various things, including a whack fo stuff to help the gaming side of the society, but that'll go up seperately
